Inner Farne is the closest of the Farne Islands off the Northumbrian Coast, located a two mile boat ride from Seahouses. It is renowned as a summer haven for nesting sea birds including terns and puffins, as well as home to one of the biggest grey seal colonies in the British Isles. The Farne Islands are in the care of the National Trust and attract in excess of 45,000 visitors throughout the year.

The Rotunda Museum is a Grade II star listed building described as the finest surviving purpose-built museum of its age in the country. Opened in 1829 to house the important rock and fossil collection of the Philosophical Society. Its design, in particular the central cylindrical drum, was heavily influenced by William Smith, the "Father of English Geology".

Lambton Castle, the ancestral seat of the Lambton family, is a Grade II* listed structure in County Durham near Chester-le-Street. It dates from the 1800s and was partially demolished in the 1930s. A 130m long retaining wall, up to 9m high, separates the Castle from the sloping bank down to the River Wear.
