Hull City Council have developed the once derelict Humber and Railway Docks into a fully equipped and operating marina adjacent to the City Centre.

Following the successful development of the disused docks within Hull City Centre into a marina, for which Alan Wood & Partners were the Consulting Civil & Structural Engineers, the Teesside Development Corporation commissioned Alan Wood & Partners to prepare a feasibility report upon a marina within existing docks at Hartlepool.

A design and construct contract was awarded by Associated British Ports to C. Spencer Ltd. employing Alan Wood & Partners for the replacement of the derelict timber west lead-in structure to Alexandra Dock in Hull.

Alan Wood & Partners have a heavy Civils design capability for major earthworks, retaining walls, river defences, wharfs etc. Our original design of the concrete deck and steel tubular piles is satisfactory to withstand heavy concentrated loadings from cranes and uniformly distributed storage loadings.

The timber construction Minerva Pier and the adjacent Island Wharf had fallen into a state of disrepair not having been used for a number of years. A hydraulic model study commissioned by Alan Wood & Partners on behalf of their Client suggested that to rebuild the pier in solid form and to extend its length would best serve the needs of vessels using Hull Marina.
