Description:
Alan Wood & Partners were commissioned by C. R. Reynolds (Construction) Ltd. to be the Civil and Structural Engineer within their design and build team.
The original factory operated by Bartoline Ltd. was completely destroyed by fire and the project included the reconstruction of a production area, two areas of warehousing and office facilities within a single portal frame building. External works included tank foundations, bunding, car parking, loading areas etc.
The service provided to the Contractor included obtaining planning permission, building regulation approval and compiling a flood risk assessment. In addition specific criteria imposed by the building’s insurance company, such as the whole site being bunded in the case of a repeat fire, were incorporated in the design and detailing.
