Keadby Jetty

Alan Wood and Partners have a heavy Civils design capability for major earthworks, retaining walls, river defences, wharfs etc. Our original design of the concrete deck and steel tubular piles is satisfactory to withstand heavy concentrated loadings from cranes and uniformly distributed storage loadings. However, one of the large vessels coming in to Keadby failed to turn correctly and sailed bow first in to the jetty face.

The jetty survived but the collision did cause extensive damage to the fenders, buckled one if the main deck piles and fractured the concrete plinth on the off-loading deck. Upon our inspection of the damage Alan Wood and Partners were required to design and procure the repair of the jetty, the works were to provide new fendering, execute specialist concrete repairs to the damaged concrete and to strengthen the buckled jetty pile.
