Description:
The Enterprise Centre situated on the outskirts of Louth, Lincolnshire has provided modern office accommodation for small and start up businesses. Alan Wood and Partners were responsible for the foundations, floor slabs, superstructure and external works for the development.
The structure comprised of a 2-storey steel frame supporting composite-clad mono-pitched roof and sidewalls from 1st floor level upwards. The ground floor perimeter was of masonry wall construction, tied into each steel frame.
The first floor comprised of 150mm thick precast concrete planks spanning between steel frames, with a sand and cement screed finish. Access to the first floor was provided in the way of precast concrete stair units centred around a core designed to accommodate a disabled passenger lift.
The sub-soils beneath the building comprised of firm boulder clays and, as such, the steel frame was supported off reinforced concrete pad foundations. The ground floor slab was also supported off the natural sub-soils via a well-compacted stone blanket.
The office car park was of a traditional tarmac construction, with access provided onto neighbouring Bolingbroke Road.
