Description:

Alan Wood & Partners project

Alan Wood and Partners responsibilities included the design of the foundations, superstructure, cladding supports masonry and external civil engineering works.

The project consists of a 5/6 storey steel framed structure, with composite concrete floors and masonry, stone and glass cladding, all supported on a system of concrete ground beams and pre-cast concrete piles. The plan area of the building is approximately 905m2.

Due to the relatively poor ground conditions on the banks of the River Humber adjacent to Hull Marina the foundations for the superstructure had to be supported on driven precast concrete piles. The ground floor slab is supported on the existing ground. Externally the paving was designed to cope with pedestrian access and occasional vehicular access.

The building has a full height open central atrium with five floors to the west wing and six floors to the east wing.
