The role

Are you an experienced and highly skilled Structural Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity in the vibrant city of Hull? Alan Wood and Partners, an agile, positive, employee focussed, problem-solving civil and structural engineering consultancy, is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Principal / Associate Structural Engineer.

As a Principal / Associate Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in leading and managing projects from concept through to completion.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the structural engineering design process, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Overseeing and reviewing technical drawings, calculations, and specifications.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated design solutions.
  • Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Contributing to business development activities and identifying opportunities for growth.

Required for the position

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • You should be enthusiastic, engaging and a team player.
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. A master's degree would be an advantage.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on designing and delivering complex projects.
  • Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional body.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard software for structural analysis and design.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant codes and regulations.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Effective communication abilities, both written and verbal, to engage with clients and team members.
