The role

Working alongside an experienced team, serving all of our 7 UK offices on projects across the UK, you will get involved with a wide variety of geotechnical and land contamination projects covering sectors including energy, infrastructure, development/regeneration projects and local authorities.

As a senior geotechnical/geoenvironmental engineer, you’ll be responsible for planning and undertaking project investigations, with a balance between office based project management and site-based work. This will include both geoenvironmental and geotechnical site investigations, data interpretation and reporting, geotechnical design, and site supervision of remediation and earthworks projects. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Planning and managing Phase 2 Investigations, including health and safety aspects, compliance with CDM requirements, and procuring sub-contractors
  • Managing fieldwork activities including supervising drilling and excavation works, undertaking gas and groundwater monitoring, and groundwater and surface water sampling. You will be logging both soil and rock and carrying out in-situ testing
  • Geotechnical design to include slope stability and settlement analysis
  • Supervision of remedial and earthworks projects, liaising with Contractors to ensure works are executed in line with an approved specification
  • Scheduling soil, rock and water samples for chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing
  • Splitting your time between site works and office time with occasional requirements to stay away from home for more distant projects
  • Writing factual and interpretative reports, preparing earthworks specifications and remediation strategies, and validation reports on completion of such works
  • Supporting Managers in the production of fee proposals and quotation documents
  • Supporting junior members of the team

You will be required to plan your work in a structured manner, working with colleagues in addressing peaks and troughs in resource demand, and help to prioritise project delivery.
