Members of the Alan Wood & Partners Running Club faced some truly testing conditions as they took part in the Haltemprice 10K on Sunday 25th October.
What was expected to be a scenic run through the Yorkshire countryside quickly became a battle against the elements, with strong winds, relentless rain and even a named storm making an appearance. While the route's hills are well-known, the additional challenge of running into gale-force headwinds was certainly not included in the original race briefing.
Despite the weather, the AWP team rose to the challenge with impressive determination and resilience. The event saw colleagues of all abilities come together, whether aiming for a personal best, tackling the course for the first time, or simply taking on the challenge and refusing to let the British weather get the better of them.
The team produced some excellent performances throughout the morning, with several runners achieving personal milestones.
The running club continues to grow across the business, bringing colleagues together from different teams and offices while promoting health, wellbeing and a sense of community outside the workplace. Events such as the Haltemprice 10K provide a fantastic opportunity for colleagues to support one another, celebrate achievements and enjoy some friendly competition along the way.
A special thank you goes to everyone who came along to support the runners on the day, offering encouragement from the sidelines despite the conditions..
Most importantly, congratulations to all those who crossed the finish line. Completing a 10K is an achievement in any conditions. Doing so in the middle of a storm makes it all the more impressive.
