A landmark £36 million redevelopment is transforming Southampton’s renowned Outdoor Sports Centre – a vital part of the city’s sporting heritage since 1938.
This ambitious first phase includes the construction of a new anew two-storey community hub featuring
Alan Wood & Partners was initially appointed by WT Partnership, cost consultants to Southampton City Council, to support the planning application process. Our services included undertaking ground investigations, producing a flood risk assessment, and developing a drainage strategy in line with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
Now novated to the principal contractor, Morgan Sindall Construction, our ongoing role covers the full civil and structural engineering design services. We are working collaboratively with Architecture PLB and fellow design partners Vail Williams, Dutch Landscape Architects, and Cooper Homewood to deliver a cost-efficient, high-quality scheme.
Construction is underway and scheduled for completion in early 2027. This redevelopment marks a significant milestone in modernising the facilities and securing the Centre’s future as a key destination for sport and community activity in Southampton.
