Experts Engineering The Best Solutions
Blast design is becoming a regular requirement in a number of buildings and no longer restricted to underground shelters and sensitive military sites. Many industrial sites now carry out processes that require building within the vicinity to be blast resistant. At Alan Wood & Partners we have a wealth of experience surrounding this specialist area of engineering design and are frequently engaged to integrate blast design into the existing norms for structural design. A challenge which is achievable.
Our expertise was initially gained in the petro-chemical sector but as our capability has developed we have expanded into a range of sectors worldwide.
The Newton Building - Humber Refinery, Immingham >>
Alan Wood & Partners were commissioned by ConocoPhillips to design a new two storey office block that would withstand a specific blast load from the refinery in addition to the normal design loads.
Rutherford Building- Immingham >>
The Rutherford building was recommended by the HSE following previous blast events at the refinery to provide working space for staff at the refinery who do not carry out tasks which require them to be on the refinery itself to complete their work.
